1. CUF07 Screen and Media Training Package
The Screen and Media Training Package (formerly CUF01 Film, TV, Radio and Mutlimedia) was endorsed in early 2008 and includes 18 qualifications in the specialist areas of broadcast engineering, broadcasting, interactive digital media, scenery and set construction, make-up, and costume.
The Training Package and its qualifications can be viewed on http://www.ntis.gov.au (if you are a student, a list of training providers for specific qualifications can also be found here).
If you are a training provider, the Training Package can be purchased through the Innovation and Business Skills Australia at http://www.ibsa.org.au. IBSA is also conducting a series of professional development workshops across the country to provide training organisations with an update as to the changes in the package.
2. VET-FEE Help This is an income contingent loan scheme that is part of the Higher Education Loan Program but is being introduced in 2008 for the VET sector. It is an extension of the higher education FEE-HELP arrangments. It assists eligible, full fee-paying students to pay for all or part of their VET tuition fees when studying one or more of the following accredited VET courses of study: diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate, or graduate diploma. Registered Training Organisations must apply to beome a VET approved provider. The process begins 14 July 2008. For more information call 13 38 73.
3. Strategic Skills Program
The Strategic Skills Program purchases training (units of competency, not whole qualifications) through an approved provider list to support areas of skill development priorities in NSW. The tender for the 2009-2010 Approved Providers list is scheduled to open on 17 September 2008. Professional Development for RTOs or those thinking about becoming RTOs Are you a training provider? Are you interested in offering accredited courses? Or maybe you are a current RTO who wants to improve your systems? Go the new and improved Vocational Education and Training Advisory Body (VETAB) website to register for professional development workshops that will help your organisation through the process. VETAB is responsible for monitoring over 950 Registered Training Organisations in NSW. Go to http://www.vetab.nsw.gov.au.
